Cinema Paradiso

Everything I know I learnt in an old movie theatre
Indore's summer spreading over our backs like butter
and I five years old
I learnt:

Lust

SeductionLove

Longing
Sadness
Drugs (heehee)

The Dark Side

Family

Motherhood

Friendship

Action

More Action
Begum Akhtar sang my dreams to sleep
Jadugar Anand was the talk of the town
Hot winds from the desert would keep us hiding in our house for days
or running to the theatre where it was cold.
Now it's a multiplex.
"pretty paradise to put up a parking lot"

your body is at home in every sea

Blame it on the black star

"Certain creatures of the air
Frightened by the night
they came to see the world again
and perished in the light

And now I sail from sky to sky
and all the blackness sings
against the boat i have made
of mutilated wings"
-leonard cohen

at the end of this sentence
rain will begin

"Say this city has ten million souls,
Some are living in mansions, some are living in holes:
Yet there's no place for us, my dear, yet there's no place for us"
W.H.Auden

'Thoughts meander like a
restless wind inside a letter box
they tumble blindly as
they make their way
Across the Universe'
trips to post offices in vain
moons
mirrors
maps
mysteries
ladybugs on glass
why I do what I do
I know not
(treasure hunts
where rain is born).
.
I am pulled
like the tide
to the moon magnet.

Tales from Topographic Oceans 2

more fiddling with photoshop I did

If you go across the ocean
I'll send you this with much devotion.
Who am I speaking to?
No one.
Because I have no one to send postcards to across the ocean.
I like sending postcards :( and making them

Teach your children well

Woman

Shes from the Haalaki Tribe near Honnavar
her name?
Shukri
Whilst working with her over a span of four days
discovering her art, her life and her being
Many myths were broken
many moments shared
She too, like me, loved shells above all things as a child.
She played with soil and simplicity.
When I asked her what she thought of me sitting in my jeans infront of her
she said in her native tongue:
"Won't it be difficult crossing the river in those?"

I had to agree.

A break from broken images.

for an update.
and a little venting this evening.

Once again our family of three packs our life into boxes and moves to another home. Whitefield to Indiranagar (oh no I've revealed my location to serpents and stalkers. Sigh!)
the 10th house in 11 years of breathing in this city.
I crave stability. Physical stability if nothing else.
My room. "The lions den"
was like a rainbow. I had fairy lights hanging from the ceiling like stars made of colours that were always on.
I've had a blue wall, an ochre wall and finally a plum wall.
All painted with me two hands.. There were papier mache mexican dolls that I made sitting all around me. Posters. Paintings. Lyrics.
The handprints of friends and lovers.
pieces of broken mirrors on the walls reflecting the light.
pieces of the ocean (shells.testubes of sand).
My little carnival of souls and squiggly worms!
SIGH!

Ofcourse one can recreate it and all but its so damn frustrating.
I'm tired of losing homes and I'm tired of losing people.
Gah!
though indiranagar promises to do wonders for my social life,I am annoyed.
:(:(

I need to buy myself my own camera. I dont want to have to use borrowed lenses anymore. :(
I want a puppy. more than anything. i met a brown stray puppy a while ago and called her lakshmi. there are more puppies near my house. they are black and white and live in a gutter. I call them my gutterpuppies and feed them rotis. they like rotis. I like them.
Enough for today. More later.
Toodles and Noodles.

" Oh, who did you meet, my blue-eyed son?
Who did you meet, my darling young one?
I met a young child beside a dea
d pony,
I met a white man who walked a black dog,
I met a young woman whose body was burning,
I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow,
I met one man who was wounded in love,
I met another man who was wounded with hatred,
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard,
It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall."

'Untrampled Footsteps
Borderline dreams
Occasion for sinners
Alive as it seems
Given to wander
Alone at the shore
Wanton to whisper

Me taken by ganjesh meow on my Dali beach on the tamilnadu coast.
Where is it?
I'll never tell.
But I could show you if you followed me.

"Feet to the stars, and moon-skulled"
bored and intoxicated
done on photoshop.
muchos thanks to polkameow for the quote

Moon Shiva

Moon Shiva
Moody Shiva

One sleepy morning in pondi I felt randoml
y inspired to wear flowers in my hair.
A sleepier friend (who is also my blackcatganjeshmeow aka Boodi billi)
decides to whip out her camera
and capture me on film
when we saw the pictures
we realized
I WAS TURNING INTO A GOD

(shiva to be precise)
it also proved to be a documentation of the moods of Shiva
they are:

Dopey Happy------- Grumpy-------- Sleepy Bashful
we feel that we have missed out on two documentations of moods. sneezy perhaps?
after this we ate apples(non poisoned variety)

click it for exact expressionism
and then bow down to me

ps-my fathers name is Shiva.
i havent seen him in a while
but i cannot escape the irony

"Hum Bacche uske pyaare hai
Sab ek samaan dulare hai
Nahi jaath paath ke jhagde hai
Sabko rah dikhane waala
Apna Saathi Re"

Marital Bliss

a broom
two coconuts
and phallic symbolism
some would say
it was a marriage of sorts
AT THE END OF THIS SENTENCE RAIN WILL BEGIN
.
I'm back
and can still taste the salt on my skin.
take me back to the ocean.
Please. :)
"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head)"
-Sylvia Plath
What is it?
A Skull
That skull had a tongue in it, and could sing once.
Now it lays wrapped like a baby
in the dead skin of a snake.
Sleeping or Awake.
